Above the fog and below the snow, is how the city of Colfax refers to itself. Colfax is a small, charming town situated alongside Interstate 80 in the lower Sierra Nevada Mountains at 2,420′ elevation with just under 2,000 residents within the city limits.
Although Colfax is small in stature, it holds a powerful significant history dating back to the Gold Rush days of 1849 and the very first Transcontinental Railroad. The center of town continues to offer an official passenger train stop still to this day. The surrounding area boasts rich, natural wildlife, two rivers and a recreational lake.
